I love adapting the concept of flashcards and turning them into activity cards or in this case reference cards! These Animal Classification Cards are great for kids trying to remember the different classifications of animals. We recently attended a class at the zoo for kids, and this was the topic of the day. Greyson enjoyed it, but being only 5 it was a little bit above his head, and he was frustrated when he could not explain it later that night to his daddy. So, I made these Animal Classification Cards for him. Yes I know, He cannot read them, but he does enjoy extending his bedtime by reviewing them or his planet flashcards!
These cards cover 5 animal classifications: Mammals, Reptiles, Fish, Birds Amphibians

Each card measures 5 x 8 inches and has two per page. Along with an adorable image each card showcases what characteristics the animal has that places them that specific category.

UPDATE ON THE PLANET FLASHCARDS
After making these cards. I had my flashcard Epiphany, and have been recreating a lot of my resources so that you can just send them to your local print center and have them printed onto 4×6 photo paper! It has been amazing. It cost less than the ink for my printer, plus I do not have to do any cutting. The paper is stronger (Read: less likely to rip / tear / crease / get ruined)! So if you would rather do this, just head over to my Flashcard page and download your Animal Classification Cards!!! *
If your child is not quite ready for these cards be sure to check out my Animal Identification Cards – created for younger (Preschool age) children!
