These Planet Flashcards have been a serious home rum for our son! Ever since Greyson received his telescope and this incredible book for his 5th birthday, he has been on a HUGE solar system kick. He has been asking constant questions about planets, stars and the galaxy – we have read his book 3 full times now. Every night he asks to look at the moon through his telescope. Plus, I am learning a ton, thanks to his curiosity! It also helps that his grandfather is an outer space fan. Greyson is excited to surprise him with all of the facts he is learning! So, to help him nail down those facts I made these awesome Plant Flashcards. I really like how versatile they are!
In this free download you’ll receive two cards per page. Each card is dedicated to a single planet. All cards feature:
- Image of the planet
- 3 Facts about the planet (the facts are the same for each card, just specific to the planet)
- What number they are from the sun
- How long it would take to travel to that planet from Earth in a spaceship
- How long it takes for the planet to orbit the sun
Both Jupiter and Neptune showcase their giant red and blue spots!
How to use your planet flashcards-
There are so many ways to use these cards – and they can completely change based on how old your child is. For Greyson (who is 5 years old) he is using them by:
- Lining them up in their order
- He likes me to “quiz” him on the facts printed on the flashcards
- He will select a card and tell me what he know about that planet… everything he knows is from this book. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
I am excited to put the finishing touches on a whole outer space learning resource for everyone! Once it is complete – I will be sure to share it with everyone. In the meantime you can !CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PLANET FLASHARDS!
If you have an older child (or you yourself) are interested in outer space I encourage you to check out this post from buzzfeed. It is incredible!
UPDATE ON THE PLANET FLASHCARDS
After making these cards. I had my flashcard Epiphany, and have been recreating a lot of my resources, so that you can just send them to your local print center and have them printed onto 4×6 photo paper! It has been amazing. It cost less than the ink for my printer, plus I do not have to do any cutting. The paper is stronger (Read: less likely to rip / tear / crease / get ruined)! So if you would rather do this, just head over to my Flashcard page and download your Planet Flashcard Photo Cards!!! *
