Valentine’s Day Advent Mailbox – So easy!

I am so in love with this countdown to Valentine’s day craft I made for the boys! It cost less than $3.00 each, and it has taken me WAY more time to write this post than it did to make the Valentine’s Day Advent Mailbox!

Let me backup for a minute- I love doing a countdown to Valentine’ Day. The past two years I have done these Valentine’s Day Advent Hearts. But I thought it would be fun to switch it up a little this year! Also- we bought our niece the Melissa and Doug Mailbox Kit for Christmas this past year. She and Greyson played with it for hours on end, so I knew that the mailbox was a great investment for Greyson – But for just a buck (Target Dollar Spot) it was a no brainier!

Valentines Day Advent Mailbox: How To Make It-

  • Target currently has these mailboxes in their dollar bins. They come in Gold, Silver, Red and Pink. They cost only a dollar. If you cannot find them there, you can snag them right here.
  • At Hobby Lobby I grabbed the wooden candlestick and wooden plaque.
  • I stained the candlestick and plaque. You could leave them alone, paint them, or have you child decorate them!
  • Using some glue -I glued the candlestick to the plaque, and then the mailbox to the candlestick. It took just a few minutes to dry and we were good to go!

What is a countdown to Valentine’s Day

Starting February 1st – until Valentine’s Day I will leave a note inside the mailbox. We will write something that we love about the boys. That note will be put  in the mailbox along with a little treat (Like a single Hershey Kiss for Greyson and some baby treats for Hudson). I then collect all of the notes and put them on a ring clip for them to keep. We will get to add to the clip year-after-year!

It is a tradition I LOVE doing. Greyson always enjoys receiving his love notes, and I know he will love getting them in his mailbox!!

Do you guys have any Valentine’s Day traditions with your kiddos, or do you stick strictly to your significant others?
