Yesterday, was awesome!

Before I get to that I want to take a quick detour and tell you a story about me growing up, and that might help explain why yesterday was SO DARN GOOD.

When I was in JR and High School, if we got good grades (B or higher) my grandparents would give us money. (My siblings and cousins). And they would reward us with not just a buck or two but twenty bucks for A’s and 10 bucks for B’s. So to a 13 year old that is some sweet dough.

Well one semester my cousin and I did really good. Straight A’s. So we raked in the loot. We were in the car together and she asked me that I was going to do with all my money. I told her I was not sure but I was leaning towards by a new bed spread, and maybe get my mom to paint me room…. pretty much decorate my room, again!

I’ll never forget the crazy look she gave me, and hearing my Grandma chuckle. I’ve always chose decorating over clothing, or jewelry, and I still do.

So yesterday, I made over our pantry. For less than $50.00!

I painted the walls Mountain Dew, and the shelves a bright white.

Here is the before:

Pantry Before

Complete and total chaos!! You could never find what you needed, there was no rhyme or reason.

Here are some more shots of the mess:

Gross!

When we moved into the house back in January, the food boxes were piled up in the kitchen, and the truck was still being unloaded. So to make room, quickly all the food was just tossed in without any thought. Knowing I would sort it later. Well later took 3 months, but she is done now!

Here is what she looks like now, in all of her beauty.

I purchased all of the canisters at the dollar store. They cost me 3.50 a piece BUT when you compare them to the cheapest plastic ones at Wal-Mart that are still 6.95 each. They were a steal!!

I am very happy with the end result. It took me about 4 hours total, including painting to complete the project.

I may or may not keep opening the door just to admire its beauty!!

Anyone else give a closet in their house, a quick makeover? I’d love to see pictures!
