So about two weeks ago Scott, Greyson and myself boarded a plane and headed to the warmth, desert, and scorpion filled state of Arizona. Phoenix Arizona to be exact. Scott had some work to do out there, so we extended the trip and had a mini family vacation.
Prior to having Greyson I had the memory of an elephant. now? well it is more like the memory of a Nat. For the week prior to leaving I started making lists of what we needed to take, I was worried I would forget something(s) major, and Greyson would have a meltdown.
I had too many lists around the house, so I sat down and created a travel checklist for our family.
This worked great. I dotted on half of each box when I had packed the item. I took the sheets with us to Phoenix and when I repacked to go home, I just checked the other half of the box. This way, I knew we had not forgotten anything.
While Scott worked on Thursday, Greyson and I hung out by one of the 9 pools, walked the amazing grounds at the Biltmore. Ate, Swam, Read, Napped, and played in the garden, and on the huge playground for toddlers.
On Friday, we went to the Children’s Museum, an amusement park made specifically for toddlers. We also did some sightseeing around Phoenix.
Yes, Scott and I were a nervous wreck letting Greyson ride this solo, but he LOVED it, and his bottom stayed firmly planted on the seat the whole time!
On Saturday we woke up early and headed up to Sedona for the day. We went to the Out Of Africa Wildlife Park. (It was a bit of a bust, but it was nice to be doing something). Greyson fed a Giraffe all by himself, so that was really cool. I cannot believe we did not get it on video camera!
We ate some AMAZING organic pizza, right in the heart of Sedona and enjoyed our view of the red rocks.
We then decided that we would hike up Cathedral Mountain, while carrying Greyson. We had started with his jogging stroller, but that was quickly left to the side of the trail. Thankfully, no one took it and we grabbed it on the way back down the mountain.
We were being picked up at 12:15 on Sunday afternoon and being taken back to the airport. We really wanted to see the Phoenix Zoo before we left, so we got up early packed all of our luggage and were waiting at the zoo gates when they opened! I am so happy we went, it was really fun and it wore out Greyson. He slept for most of the flight home! Wahoo
And just incase you have not seen enough pictures of my little man. We stopped by the gardens at the Biltmore for a little photo shoot.
It was a fantastic trip. We had not really gone on a vacation since our honeymoon back in 2009. I do not count our camping trip last summer as a vacation!
Greyson was very well behaved, the weather was ideal, and overall we had a wonderful time!!
