Handwriting Practice – Lowercase Letters

When I created the  Size Matters- Uppercase Letters worksheets I wanted to make some handwriting practice pages that would help my child get his letter sizing consistent, and not so massive!

We’ve all received the cards, where a child signs their name, and the letters start so big, that they have to wrap them around to a new area of the page. While I LOVE those cards, and just having them write their name is a huge milestone – it is okay to work with them in fun ways to teach them how to write their letters at a more appropriate size.

They needed the perfect companion, so I created these Lowercase Letter Handwriting activity pages. I’ve always believed that children should be taught Uppercase and Lowercase letters simultaneously.

If you think about it, most of the written text children are exposed to (think books, magazines, packaging, etc) are mostly written in lowercase.

Early Readers become early readers because they are exposed to lowercase letters, not just uppercase! (*This is just one of many reasons, some children read earlier than others)

This printable is 26 pages (The full alphabet). Each page is dedicated to a single letter. In the upper left, it shows the letter with arrows and numbers showing how to correctly write it.

Next to the letter is a large box with a faded letter inside for tracing. The next row is a smaller box with traceable letters inside, and so on…

I printed these pages Back-to-Back and laminated them so he can use them multiple times! We like to use Crayola Washable Markers instead of the dry-erase or wet-erase markers. They are a lot cheaper, better colors and SO much easier to wipe clean!!

You can download the UPPERCASE worksheets HERE.

I cannot find a link that work for the lowercase letters. I found the upper case. I’d love to use the lowercase with my grandson this summer before he starts kindergarten.

    Thanks so much!
