I know that pretty much everyone – everywhere have been experiencing some wicked cold temperatures this winter. The other morning we woke up and it was –29 degrees outside!
Needless to say, Greyson and I have been pretty cooped up lately. After a few days we get seriously stir crazy. This morning (another freezing cold day) he wasn’t even out of his pajamas and asked if he could play with cloud dough. We have not played with cloud dough since summer, so I was surprised by his request.
I immediately said “No, cloud dough is an outside activity, and it is waaaaayyyyyy to cold to play outside today”. He had a brief look of sadness sweep across his face. It was just enough for me to take pause and think “why the heck not!”
So as quickly as I had said “no” I told him, yes! Yes, you can play it and we’ll play it inside. He was beyond thrilled. I grabbed a sheet, put it on our floor and got the cloud dough out. He spent the next 45 minutes playing away!
So this is just a quick post to say “why the heck not?!?!” Sure it was a little messy, but only one extra sheet worth of laundry messy. He was happy, it kept him occupied, and it felt like something brand new for him.
I hope I can embrace the mess a little more starting today. It is worth it for him to explore, and get some hands on play. Even when it is just way too cold to go outside!
Incase you missed it, this is my recipe for cloud dough:
