I have found that the best way to succeed at teaching Greyson a new concept is to build upon other concepts that he has already mastered (revolutionary concept, right?).
I would like to begin introducing him to ten frames, adding and subtracting, tally marks, as well as recognizing number words. So to help him grasp these new concepts before we dive in deeper with them, I created these Preschool Math: All About Numbers worksheets. Greyson knows his numbers 1-10 inside and out, so these worksheets challenge him with new concepts but make them reachable by working with numbers and other concepts he already knows well! The last thing I want is for him to become frustrated and not enjoy his preschool learning time. But… I also want to continue to challenge him at a rate that makes him excited when he finally “gets” it.
For example – one area of the worksheets asks him to find and color a specific number. He finds the numbers without hesitation, but his coloring skills need a little help. So many parts of the worksheets will be easy for him, but I have sprinkled in a few more challenging concepts for him to work on. i.e., coloring in the lines.
