Two whole years ago I shared a weather charting workbook for preschoolers. At the time I thought it was great – and it was. It did exactly what I hoped for. However, I wanted something a little bit different, and more exciting this time around. So I got to work and ended up creating something I am really excited about! It has a new twist, and I know that it will keep Greyson excited for the entire year.
I created this weather journal with fun in mind. I decided to design it around the use of stickers or stamps! For the daily weather tracking my intent is to have Greyson use these stickers to match the days weather. Instead of doing this first thing in the morning like he does his Daily Learning Workbook, this will be right before or right after dinner time. That way he will be able to observe the weather and better understand what the weather was for the whole day.
If you do not want to use stickers you can use stamps! I might switch things up every other month, and have him pick which method he would like to use. Stamps would also be better for younger children who struggle with getting stickers off of their pages still. I like these stamps in particular…and you cannot forget the multi colored ink pad! 🙂
For the adjacent page he will be marking with a tally the weather everyday. At the end of the month he will count out the tallies to see which type of weather was the most frequent and the least frequent.
Below the tallies I will ask him six questions and have him use a sticker or stamp to answer them. I love that he will have to go back to the calendar page – locate the day and find the correct answer.
I am excited about this, because I know that Greyson will really enjoy it. Plus, since it will be completed in the evening I think it will be some nice nightly work that he and his daddy can work on together. Greyson loves showing off any new skills he has learned throughout the day as soon as Scott walks in the door; so I know he will get a kick out of doing this with him.
