It is here, FINALLY!! Seriously though, I feel like I’ve finished this workbook just in time. I want to start this with Greyson on September 1st, and well, September 1st is just a few days away!
Today I am sharing a FREE 32-page Preschool Daily Learning workbook. It will only take a couple of minutes to complete everyday but the learning and concept reinforcements will be amazing. This workbook will take you all the way until the last day of August 2015!
I am going to walk you through the pages now.
First up we have the starting page (after the cover). This page is meant to be laminated and completed everyday. If you are using a 3-ring binder to keep your workbook in, you can just use a sheet protector instead of laminating! Greyson will use crayola washable makers to fill this out. They are really easy to wipe clean, they come in a ton of different colors, and they are a lot less expensive then the dry erase or the wet erase markers. Plus- seriously 64 brightly colored WASHABLE markers? Awesomeness.
Lets chat about the sections numbered above.
Number 1: Greyson will circle what day it is. Then we can talk about yesterday and tomorrow. I am excited for this. He has absolutely no concept of days, morning vs. evening etc. I know that this will really help him grasp the concept of days of the week and “time” in general.
Number 2: I will have him print the month. He will absolutely not get this right away especially starting with the month of S-E-P-T-E-M-B-E-R, but it is good practice, and it will be great for letter recognition. I wont have the month printed out for him, so he will have to listen to me as I spell the month and he writes it down.
Numbers 3-4 I will have him write the Day NUMBER, (Example for September 1st he will write the number 1), and then write the year (2014).
Number 5- Let’s start learning how to tell time, correctly! Greyson can read digital clocks, but it sounds like this. “Mommy, it is seven-five-three!!” So we are going to start learning how to say the time & read the time properly.
Number 6- We are taking the whole time concept to another level, here. I will help Greyson (likely for the whole year) to take the time from the digital clock and properly draw the time on the analog clock. You can see on the image below that there are two circles on the inside of the clock. A pink one and a blue/teal one. Note: Those colors correspond to the digital clock lines above. These circles are meant to help your little one know how far to draw their arrows, and also reinforce what size arrow represents the hour versus minute hand.
Yowza- that was just for the first page! 🙂
On the back of the first page is the I Can Draw page. I included this because I am a horrible artist, and completely envy anybody who can even kinda-sorta draw. Therefore, I would like to foster any artsy abilities that Greyson may have. **Here’s to hoping he takes after his father is in this category, Scott can draw anything…and yes I am always in complete awe and totally jealous at the same time!
I plan on asking Greyson to draw his favorite thing that happened from the day prior. *Reinforcing the concept of days of the week / time!
Every month has their own page. Here your child can trace the number of the current day. I will have Greyson count the numbers up until the current day. Also below the calendar for every month your little one can find the correct number / date. They can color in the small image, put and X on top of it, place a sticker on it….etc.
On the back of the calendar you’ll see I have included some weather charting! Greyson will see what image best represents the current weather and fill in the rectangle that best fits. He will also get a little practice writing when he traces the month word at the top of the page.
Once we have completed a full month of weather charting, we will flip to our yearly weather tracking pages.
For Graph the year (most) Greyson will place a star sticker in the box that matches the weather we had the MOST of for that month
For Graph the year (least) Greyson will place a star sticker in the box that matches the weather we had the LEAST of for that month
Are you still with me? We are almost done, promise!
Next we have the monthly handwriting practice sheets. I am looking forward to seeing how Greyson’s writing of his name progresses throughout the year.
NOTE: Workbooks with your child’s name printed at the top of this page is just for those who choose to have their’s customized! If you do not have yours customized, the name will not be shown at the top but instead there will be a black line for you to write your child’s name on.
