Prepping for PK

When I decided to do preschool at home, I knew I needed a curriculum. If I chose to fly by the seat of my pants, I know it would not last long. At first I thought I will do my research and create my own. I mean, on of my favorite things is to do is to create printables. But once I started researching I quickly became overwhelmed.

I decided to look into one of my favorite blogs www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com She is beyond amazing, and I completely look up to her! She has a system that she created for her children, called LOTW (Letter of the week). At first I passed by it, because Greyson already knows all of his letters. BUT after looking into it more I saw that it is way beyond learning letters. It will help teach him matching, shapes, writing, Spanish, and SO much more.

I went for it. I know that we will not use everything that came with the download. Greyson is only almost three after all. BUT we will use a lot of it.

A few of my favorite things about it so far are:

  1. She provides MORE than we will use
  2. She provides weekly lesson plans WITH (and this is the best part for me) spots for us to do our own activities.
  3. Colorful
  4. VERY well thought-out

With the curriculum comes hundreds of pages to print. Therefore, hundreds of pages to organize. So this is what I came up with.

I used one of my husbands old file folder boxes from his college days. It started out black but that did not jive with our new craft closet. So I spray painted it blue and added a colorful sticker.

Inside I made a file folder for each letter.

Each folder has the contents from Confessions Of A Homeschooler, and the front of the folder I paper clipped the weekly lesson plan.

And just as a sample this is what the inside of the folder looks like for the Letter A:

Hopefully this system will help keep us organize and on track the next 26 weeks.

I also feel like I should note that I am not going to “push” Greyson. I know he is young, and I want 100% of this next 26 weeks to be fun for Greyson. I am going to focus mostly on Art. I want to create more with him.

Disclaimer- Confessions of a Homeschooler has no idea who I am, or that I am using her curriculum. All opinions and thoughts are 100% my own.
