Yesterday I shared that Greyson go a ton of Lego Duplo kits for his birthday. I also shared these Free Lego Duplo Number Cards! Well today I am back showing you our Lego storage solution.
I am not sure how but we had an unused cupboard in our laundry room. Well it was not actually unused, it stored random junk, that I did not even know we still owned. The laundry room is sandwiched between our master bedroom and Greyson’s bedroom which makes it wonderful for this.
I cleaned out he cupboard, lined the bottom and got to work sorting Duplo’s. I decided that I would sort, and restore every set. I put each set into their own container (I used plastic shoe-boxes) and then larger totes for the non specific sets. I then looked online for a photo of the set. I printed them off and attached them to the front of each container.
This makes it incredibly easy for Greyson to grab the correct set.
Here you can see two of his specific sets.
I chose to put out TWO specific sets, and the two larger sets…you know for massive tower building.
You see that white tray/box thing below the two larger sets? Well that little gem is actually a Lego Duplo building tray. I made one for Greyson for his birthday. I used THESE directions.
The only difference was that I used a Lego Duplo board, and I did not glue it down. I figured that once Greyson upgrades to smaller Legos I can just replace the board instead of building a new tray.
In addition to organizing his sets, I had to organize his guides, image boards PLUS his new number cards.
I used a 7×9 Avery binder to house all of his cards.
I love the combination of these storage containers and the binder. Since Sunday every.single.day Greyson has grabbed a container of Duplo’s, this binder and of course the camera and tripod. Because, he is no longer able to just make creations he has to also photograph them.
