Counting On – Free Printable

Counting On –  is a skill that a student should have before they are expected to be able to add numbers!

“Counting On” is a kids ability to start at any number and continue counting. Meaning they can start at the number 8 and say 9 – 10 -11 – 12 – 13 an so on. Versus being able to count to 13 starting at 0 or 1.

Before a child can be expected to start adding numbers effectively ( 8 + 4 ) they need to have mastered the skill of Counting On.

How it works:

  • Print out your free page, and either laminate it or stick it into a sheet protector. This way you can reuse it forever. 🙂
  • I have Greyson pick a number card, and write it on the line all the way on the left – then he counts on – filling in the train cars to the right of the number. (three in total)

I started to create printable flash cards – but then I looked up the price of heavy – child proof flash cards and for less than 3 dollars you can order them off of Amazon! I decided it was well worth the price to just suggest you purchase a pack of 1 -100 flash cards. If you’d rather print and cut your own you can search for them on Pinterest- and have your pick of a hundred different styles!
