There are only 11 shopping days before Christmas. Yeah- I think that came pretty quick, too! I still have a lot of shopping to do. BUT I am here to help you out with the little ones in your life.

Last night I thought long and hard about the top three toys (as determined by Greyson’s interest and enjoyment throughout the year) of the past year. It was not easy narrowing it down. But I went with the toys that were played with the most.

So if you have any shopping to do for a toddler / preschooler I HIGHLY recommend these!!

toys of the year

Thinkfun Roll and Play Board Game
Takes the cake as the NUMBER ONE toy of the year! It is amazing, and here is why:

  1. It gets the kids up and active, but not crazy bouncing off the walls active.
  2. It teaches: Colors, emotions, animal sounds, counting, body parts, and actions.
  3. It is great at teaching turn taking, and following directions.
  4. The die is really well made; it is soft, and the perfect size for little hands.
  5. It also has a built in pocket to store the cards. (I think a mom must have come up with the is product / design!)
The two runners up are

Animal Planet Zipper’s Safari Play Set and Imaginarium Foam Building Blocks – 100-Piece

Greyson has played with these nearly every day. He uses the blocks to create “animal houses” and the animals are placed in the house. He then smashes them… just to start again.

The animals are really well made, and can withstand unnecessary abuse from a wild boy. The foam blocks are great, because well they are foam. Meaning, they are soft so they do not hurt you when they go flying across the room. They are also very well made. I hate when blocks are not the same shape / size, but not these. They uniformity makes my heart sing. Smile

So there you have it, the Butler’s top toy picks of the year!

Some of the other contenders that almost made this list, but didn’t because I was only picking three are these:
