Deep Cleaning your home

Please tell me that I am not the only one who feels like their house is always a disaster. In the winter it gets even worse! The more we are home the more of a mess it is. As soon as I turn around Greyson has broken out a new toy/game.

I know I need to be better about making him take care of his toys. It is a work in progress (on my part).

Anyway this post is sorta about that, sorta not. I find that I can easily get discontent with my house. It needs this, or I wish it had that starts creeping into my mind, and before I know it I have my own little pity party going on. I look at the negative instead of the positive. And I have so much greatness in my life I should never be focusing on the bad.

This past year, in my quest to save more money, I found a trick that worked wonders for me. I feel like I need less, or want to start a new project when my house is clean. (Earth shattering right!?) 😉 When my house is a mess I start the pity party. The “if I had a nicer dining room table, this pile of mail would not be here” HA! yeah right…

So I started working a lot harder at keeping my house neat and tidy. What I found was that I became much happier with my life as a whole. I wake up happier, and my day runs much smoother when I am not avoiding messes! So my house was picked up a lot more, but I was finding that it never really felt like I just had a team of professionals come in and scrub it.

And dang it, every once in a while I would like to experience that! However, with the whole saving money thing, and the whole Stay-at-home-mom thing I could not (and still can’t) justify a cleaning crew. So one day I was looking at the local cleaning companies website lusting over what it would be like to spend the $380.00 to have them clean 4 rooms in my house (GAH!), and I noticed that they list exactly what they do when they come to clean your home.

BAM! I can do that, and so can you! I took their list and made it into cute little printables for my home management binder. When I am needing that really deep clean I simply go down the cleaning list. It does not take long at all, as long as your house is “tidy” to start.

Are any of you Flylady followers? I tried it once, but the email blasting was too much from me. I am happy I did try it though, because I learned about “Cleaning the sink” If you have no clue what I am talking about, please go HERE follow the directions. It changed my life. *No I don’t think I am being overly dramatic at the moment. 🙂

And here is the list for the bedrooms and living room.

If you have set up a cleaning caddy, this does not take long to have a sparkling house. I am thinking that I will be doing this today. My life has felt pretty chaotic lately, and doing this always brings me a sense of peace.

Please let me know, what your systems are. Are you a cleaning nut, or does the mess not mind you too much? I think I fall somewhere in the middle.
