There are a few financial resources / tools that I have used regularly (some for many years) thay have allowed my family to get a secure handle on our fiances – pay off your debts – save for retirement – allow me to stay at home with our boys full-time – and live what I consider to be an exciting lifestyle. Without them, I highly doubt our personal finances would be even close to what they are today.
My top personal financial resources are:
- Soon-To-Be Debt Free Workbook. Hands down, using this workbook was the first thing that started our debt free journey. It was the first thing I had tried (and I tried A LOT) that got me organized, and on track. Since using it we have never had a missed or had a late payment. We have been able to pay off tens of thousands of dollars of debt (using the snowball method)! If you want to take your finances to the next level check out BetterLifeBudget.com!
- Digit.co – This free program has helped to automate our savings. Every paycheck I transfer a set amount of money into our checking account. IN ADDITION- this app / program has helped my family add an additional 200 bucks (at least) a month into our savings. I truly love it!
- Multiple (goal oriented) bank accounts – I have one main checking and saving account. Under that we have a second checking account – and multiple savings account. I am able to transfer between the accounts easily, and as often as I’d like.
I use the savings accounts like buckets. Each bucket is labeled with its intended end goal, and each bucket can be any size. For example, we had a large bucket for our recent Disney World vacation. We knew how much we needed to save for the vacation, an when it needed to be saved by. In addition to that bucket we have buckets for our camping trips, Christmas, and a new car.
I find that it really helps to separate out our funds, versus all our funds in one savings account. - A new take on the envelope system – I love this really easy, really effective budgeting technique. It keeps me on track every month, it organizes my receipts, and it it so darn easy. See the whole thing, HERE!
- Bill Pay Worksheet– In terms of getting my finances in order this worksheet is right up there with the Soon-To-Be Debt Free Workbook. game changer!
Do you have any go-to financial resources, that have made a difference for you and your family? I would love to hear what they are! I am always looking to make improvements, whenever / wherever possible!
