One of the things I was most excited about, when buying our home was having a dining room, again. I think it is critical to have family meals together, as much as possible. Doing so in our tiny townhome was nearly impossible.
This is the corner of the dining room, I wanted to redo.
See the former owners were very sweet people. They were sweet enough to leave us many, many, many fake flower wreaths. Though, they were very nice, they are not our style. So this one and many others hanging on walls around the home had to be removed ASAP.
I am sure you are also noticing the very bright orange color on the walls. It is not actually this bright. It is actually a very nice color. So for now, it stays. The dining room will be the last room a paint brush touches. See, all of the other rooms are screaming to be painted, where this one is just sitting there saying “When you get around to it”
Here is the view of the corner from our kitchen
See that green light? Yeah, that is screaming to be removed!! But for now it is just the wreath that is getting tackled. I wanted to put something up that would bring us back around to family, being thankful, and prayer. So, here is what I did:
I created an area in the dining room, that would help us remember to be thankful, and to say Grace before we eat. This is the large print all the way on the left:
The prayer on the top is a little more “adult” and says:
May the peace and blessing of God
descend upon us as we receive of his bounty,
and may our hearts be filled with love for one
another.
The lower prayers is a little more child friendly, and says:
Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the world so sweet.
Thank you for the birds who sing.
Thank you God for everything.
And here is the view of the corner from the dining room. Still sporting the ugly green light…
