Setting and sticking to a budget is hard work. It is a decision you make every single day. To have self control, work hard, and to focus on your bigger picture. With that being said, no one is perfect, and life happens. Everyone blows their budget – every once in a while.
The important thing is to make sure that you get yourself back on track – and back on your financial plan. Here’s how to do just that.
When you blow your budget it is important to become laser focused on your Debt-Free journey. It is too easy to just say forget it and continue on your destructive path. But Dont.Do.It!! Instead do the following:
How To Fix A Blown Budget!
- Ensure your bills are paid! – Even if you have to dip into your savings account to do so, pay your bills. Do not let yourself become late on anything! Diving into your hard-earned savings account to cover the cost of your expensive month, won’t feel good… but it will be better than paying late payments, or getting sent to collections!
You do have a savings right?! If not, grab the debt free workbook, and get your finances in order!! - Pantry Living!- It is time to skip the grocery trip for the week. Try your hardest to live off the food in your pantry and freezers! You might have to stop in for staples like milk and bread, but keep it to the bare essentials.
- Digit!- If you are using Digit.co, now is a great time to withdraw some or all of your funds, to get your checking and savings account levels back up to your predetermined comfort number.

- Spending Freeze!- Challenge you and your family to participate in a spending freeze. Whether it be for a week or a whole month, it will be a great way to save a lot of money – get your savings and checking account balances back up, AS well as to give you a little space from spending money.
Too many times a single blown budget makes it too easy to forget about your budget, and your long-term goals, until you finally hit rock bottom, and are out of options.I have some awesome spending freeze cards, that you can get for free by clicking here!
