I have been thinking a lot lately about how important it is to appreciate and care for what you already own. People waste a lot of money purchasing items they already own, simply because they did not take the time to care for the original item. Maybe it is a screwdriver that became too rusted to use because you left it outside, or your garage is so disorganized that it is easier to just buy a new one, then it is to find the one you already own. It is such a waste of money. For us personally, I am distressed over our lack of attention to our yard. It has been two years since we put forth any real effort into maintaining, or improving it. We have so much to be grateful for, and by letting it “go” it seems to me (at least from outsiders) that we did not appreciate what we had enough to care for it. I spent some time thinking about what that was teaching (or NOT teaching) my boys. That it is okay to not take care of what you own? That it is somebody else’s problem to take care of? That it is okay because all of the neighbors homes look neat and tidy – so one bad lawn is okay? Yeah- that is NOT something I want to instill in my boys. So we have been working really hard. Hard cleaning up the lawn, weeding and edging the flower beds, trimming trees, etc. The boys have been helping Scott and I, every step of the way. Our little slice of heaven, only stretches so far, 1.5 acres to be exact. But, our responsibility does not end there. We all live on this planet, and we ALL need to be pitching in to take care of it! There are some big things we can do, little things, and things that we would not affect our day-to-day lives – but could have a HUGE impact on our planet!
What can you do – to help our planet?
- Instead of using insecticides in your lawn, use some elbow grease and pull the weeds!
- Turn the water off while you are brushing your teeth
- Do not run the shower until you are about to get in
- Switch out your toilet paper to Scott Tube-Free toilet paper rolls
After seeing the video (Posted Below) my family and I made the switch. It was a huge eye opener for me. Something, that I had never even thought twice about — was having such a huge impact on our planet. If I am going to be honest I was pretty disgusted. Why is this still happening? Why hasn’t everyone made the switch?!So I am challenging all of you to take the tube-free challenge with me. Switch, and do your part for our planet! Head to Scott Tube-Free to see how many rolls your family could save. I filled it out and as it turns out my family could have used over 17,000 tubes in our lifetime. ouch!
Some Important Things To Note:
- It is not like I am asking you to challenge yourself to use sandpaper. It is Scotts! They are the best. The toilet paper is soft, durable, and exactly what you need to clean your tush.
- You can save approximately 150 tubes per year. Imagine how many trees would be saved it everyone chose to Toss The Tube?
- These are not any harder to get onto the toilet paper holder. There really is no difference in use – other than the whole helping to save the planet thing.
